Are you managing your money in

a way that improves your life?

At some point in life, you reach a realization that life is about more than money. You experience that aha moment when it dawns on you that a meaningful and significant life shouldn't be spent in pursuit of money; instead, you realize that money is simply a tool that should be used in pursuit of a meaningful and significant life!

Today, the majority of financial advisors follow a financial planning process that focuses almost exclusively on portfolio performance, otherwise known as return on investment. They seem to work under the assumption that money alone equals a fulfilling life. No wonder it often seems that their only interest is in your account and amounts.

At Faithful Steward Wealth Advisors, we use a much more effective approach called financial life planning. We believe that money, when combined with purpose and planning, leads to a much more fulfilling life. The result of this life-centered planning approach is that our clients are able to live the best lives possible given the money they have.

You probably know how much money you have in the bank or the size of your portfolio, but do you know your Return on Life? Our Return on Life Index asks you to assess 10 aspects of your life that relate to whether or not you are using your money in an effective way. We invite you to click on the link below and take 5 to 10 minutes to complete the ROL Index and receive your free Return on Life assessment.

A head for finance. A heart for helping others.

Looking Out for Others.

That was practically a family mantra, when I was growing up in the sleepy little town of Spring Run, Pennsylvania. My grandparents and my parents were always living examples of being there for others; be it a family member, neighbor, or complete stranger. I was taught that looking out for others was simply the right thing to do.

It was a lesson I learned well and have put into practice throughout my life. Whether as a volunteer fireman, as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy, as a deacon in my church, or in my profession as a financial professional; I've strived to carry on my family's tradition of looking out for others.

That passion for service, along with my uncanny knack for numbers, are probably what led me find my true calling in life: serving as a financial planner. It was Mark Twain who said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” In my case, truer words were never spoken. I love helping my clients manage their finances in a way that allows them the financial freedom to pursue the things in life that matter most.

Why I Started Faithful Steward Wealth Advisors

Over the course of my career, I've watched with regret as the financial services industry has lost it's way. Conflicts of interest, ineffective advisor training, and a focus on selling products, often prevent clients from receiving the best advice. In addition, many financial services firms, especially the large ones, have lost their personal touch. Financial advisors are often guilty of making the entire financial planning process overwhelming and confusing. Worse yet, many advisors only see their clients as a set of numbers. Is it any wonder that, when it comes to trust and integrity, financial advisors rank only rank slightly ahead of politicians?

So, in 2016, I founded Faithful Steward Wealth Advisors because I wanted the freedom to serve my clients with integrity and always put their best interests first. You see, I believe clients deserve a deeper relationship, one where their financial advisor understands them just as well as they understand their money. I also believe that truly great financial planning should be about more than just the numbers. It should be about helping you use your money to live the best life possible.

Professional Qualifications

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Kingdom Advisor. I hold a B.A. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University. Since beginning my career in 1996, I've specialized in helping my clients plan for, successfully transition to, and enjoy living out their personal version of an ideal retirement.

I am a contributing advisor on Investopedia as well as a active member and past-president of the South Central Pennsylvania Estate Planning Council. I'm also an participating member of the Financial Planning Association and Kingdom Advisors.

Personal Life

My fiancee, Oneta, and I live in Chambersburg and share our home with our 3 dogs and an ever-fluctuating number of parrots – thanks to Oneta’s heart for parrot rescue. I'm blessed with 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 nephews – all of whom mean the world to me.

I'm an avid fly-fisherman and also enjoy tying my own flies. In addition, on weekends, you're likely to find me in Happy Valley cheering on the Penn State football or hockey teams.

Finally, I'm active in serving my community as a youth baseball coach, and helping to raise money for my family’s charity The Daisy Fund. I’m also involved in Trout Unlimited, the Penn State Alumni Association, and CBMC. In addition, I’m a member and past trustee at The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring.

Financial Planning that Connects Your Money with Your Life

Unfortunately, most financial advisors you meet with are typically going to begin the conversation asking about financial assets--what you have and where it’s invested. Your accounts and your amounts will often be their sole interest. The primary focus for these advisors is ROI (Return on Investment).

At Faithful Steward Wealth Wealth Advisors, our approach is different. Our initial focus is on getting to know who you are. Your story, your history and experience with financial issues, and your present situation and future aspirations. Money, after all, is only a tool, but if it is used wisely, can help us improve our lives.

Truly great financial planning is about more than money. So, our primary focus is on helping you get a better ROL (Return on Life). Our objective is helping you live the best life possible with the money you have. That focus includes helping you make good choices that work for your unique circumstances.

Our mission is doing everything we can to help you make the wisest choices in every financial decision. Our focus after that is helping you grow what you have and only taking risks that are absolutely necessary.

In our unique life-centered approach to financial planning we are going to do some work on the front end that will answer three big questions:

1, What are your perspectives on eight key financial areas—and how did you arrive at them?
2. Are you managing your money in a way that is improving your life?
3. Are you financially prepared for life’s big transitions?

How Well is Your Money Connected with Your Life?

  3. Objectivity. We bring insight from the outside to help you avoid emotionally driven decisions in important money matters, by being available to consult with you at key moments of decision-making, doing the research necessary to ensure you have all the information, and managing and disclosing any of our own potential Oconflicts of interest.

  4. Proactivity. We work with you to anticipate your life transitions and to be financially prepared for them, by regularly assessing any potential life transitions that might be coming, and creating the action plan necessary to address and manage them ahead of time.

  6. Partnership. We attempt to help you achieve the best life possible but will work in concert with you, not just for you, to make this possible, by taking the time to clearly understand your background, philosophy, needs and objectives, work collaboratively with you and on your behalf (with your permission), and offer transparency around our own costs and compensation.

Managing your taxes should not be left to solely to your accountant. We work collaboratively with your accountant to understand how current and future financial decisions impact your tax returns. We'll work to reduce both you current-year and your long-term tax liability, in order to help you pursue your goals as tax-efficiently as possible.

Estate & Charitable Planning

Understanding the complexities of the current tax and estate planning laws and how your assets may be taxed both during your life and at your death is imperative to an effective financial plan. You may also want to gift assets to the people you love and the charities you're passionate about. We can help you develop an effective and tax efficient gifting strategy. We collaborate with your existing tax and legal team to develop philanthropic and estate planning strategies to help you reduce taxes and make sure your assets end up in the right hands.

Insurance Review

How do you know if you are adequately covered and insured, or being over-sold on insurance products? We analyze and evaluate your life, disability, healthcare, liability and long-term care insurance needs and help you determine if you have enough, too much or the right amount and type. We'll help you understand your current insurance and discuss options for addressing any gaps.

Education Planning

There are many different ways to prepare for educational expenses. We can help develop a college savings plan for clients with younger kids. For clients with high school age children, we help them to navigate the financial aid process in order to maximize need-based aid and minimize out-of-pocket college costs. We also work to ensure whatever approach you take is integrated with your tax, cash flow, investment and estate planning.
